Customize Your Garden Walkway

Layer up a great gravel path: Gravel can transform your walkway in an instant. Get large stones compacted down on 4 inches of crushed stone and 1 inch of sand.
Add some art to your path: Using cement paint and a template, apply two coats, and leave to dry for 48 hours. To finish, add two coats over a two-day period.
Turn a pallet into a pathway: Break apart a pallet, arrange the slats in a line, and embed in some soil. Press down and line with rocks and plants for a makeshift walkway.
Design a glittering stone mosaic: Transform a block path with a mosaic. Pour cement into the crevasses around each block. Then, insert painted stones and allow to dry.
Revamp your path with paint: Add depth to your walkway with concrete stain. Apply with a roller and allow to dry. Add a second coat to give light-grey concrete a new sheen.

We had already purchased molds from Lowe`s that made this pattern. We are using this pattern that will come off the back porch and out to our sitting area with burn pit and adding two hammock chairs. We did not want everything to be matched, so we had to figure what kind of pattern we wanted. My hubby is building A bigger shop, that is why everything is in the yard. In the process of cleaning out the old shed we had A lot of empty ice cream buckets and knew someday we would use them for something.

Our front walkway was just recycled concrete pieces and dirt. I decided I wanted a mosaic walkway and with river rocks, broken pots and small tiles I created a fun colorful path to our front steps. This was an easy project although it did take me a couple of weeks to complete due to age and health issues. A local landscaper quoted $2500 to do this job. I did it for under $100.

Painting a Front Walk

I had a problem with my front walk. it had a big hole that just seemed to get bigger every year, it got so big that we decided that it needed to be fixed. the hole was 3 feet wide and 4 feet long, so we filled in the hole, it took six bags of cement to fill it in. then I noticed that the hole was a different color then the rest of the front walk. so I got this idea to paint the walk. I just didn't know how I was going to do it. I just didn't want to paint it all one color. then I saw a post of someone that painted their front porch with spray paint and a cement mold. I knew with the size of the walk way it would have taken a lot of spray paint. then I got an idea why not paint it with paint made for cement. I chose 5 colors, a light gray for the base color,( it took 2 1/2 gallons) and four for the stone look.( a gallon of each color) it took me 4 days to paint it. I had to let the base paint dry for 48 hours. or it would have been done in two days, everyone that has seen it loves it. and now my neighbor wants to do t to his front walk. I want to thank that person with the mold idea for giving me my idea. I had so much fun. I have enough paint left over that I can do my back porch now.

Is there such a thing as repurposed rock? I took all this rock out from my front yard that was defining my driveway. I just didn't like it and it was hard to weed around them. I really needed something to go from my back door to the doggie gate cause every time it was wet I'd track dirt inside. It was hard work but I really like it now :D

How do I build a walkway to my pool?

Suggestions for inexpensive walkways and patio in sideyard?

My side yard leading to the back yard is fairly large, so I want to create some walkways and a small patio area. The entire area is about 40' long and 16' wide. While we would also use it to sit in the cool afternoons (not exactly cool in Missisippi, but shady), I also want it to "beckon" visitors to open the gate and come into the backyard. I can't spend a fortune on it, nor can I hire all the help to get it done. The picture shows the sideyard from the edge of the parking pad. I need to start a walkway there. Please give me some good, solid suggestions that I can probably handle myself. Thanks!

Concrete vs. designed concrete vs. flagstone/pavers for my front walk?

I am looking for expert advice on what I should do to replace my front walkway. I love the look of flagstone and pavers but I am concerened of the cost involved(contracted) I dont want to do the boring basic concrete so was thinking designed concrete and I am concerned about it holding up in harsh Ohio winters? I need expert advice for this walway and steps. Dont look at the weed invested yard(being replaced) and the spotted house(being painted)
