Pour Vinegar Into Your Windowsill for an Easy Cleaning Hack

Window tracks just love to attract lots of dirt and tough-to-scrub grime, but there is a simple solution to get the job done quick and easy! Watch how quickly the gunk melts away below.
Start off by sprinkling a fairly thick layer of baking soda into your window tracks. Press it firmly into the cracks and corners so that it does its job well. It might look like a lot as you go, but as you can see in the video, it takes quite a bit of baking soda to get that shine.

Next, pour your vinegar straight onto the baking soda so that it bubbles up like mine did. Allow the mixture to rest and do its thing for 5-10 minutes.

Once it has been resting for a while, grab an old toothbrush and scrub all the dirt loose. Then, wipe the loose gunk away with a rag or paper towel. Isn’t it amazing how it just slides away to reveal sparkling tracks?

For a deeper clean (when your windows are beyond yucky), try the kitchen knife trick from the end of the video. Happy green cleaning!

Can you use this method on wooden window sills? It looks like yours are metal.

Definitely going to do this. We have a home sitting idle till the end of the month, when we are then going to clean it, paint it and put it up for sell. The windows sills are very dirty. Was wondering how to clean that up. Thank you for sharing.

Not sure if aluminum likes vinegar. Please advise.
