We have an eye sore of a pool shed in the back yard that houses the filtration system of the pool. Relocating all the equipment to the side of the house was going to be crazy expensive, what with having to tear up the concrete and run all new plumbing, electricity and gas lines. Definitely not in our budget. So the only option I had was to beautify it, instead, so it wouldn't be such an eye sore!

We had an old pool deck that we needed to remove and this left open a huge empty spot next to the patio. I wanted privacy, but couldn't afford a privacy fence. I bought these old doors (they have crystal door knobs!) for $10.00 a piece! I thought they would be perfect way to make a cool fence! What do you think????

1/2 Recycled Greenhouse Build

My brother needed a greenhouse for his ever growing collection of plants, luckily we had a load of pallet wood and since he's a builder, he managed to recover plenty of wood from a construction site rubbish pile. We had to buy the plastic and the wood for the trusses, so I prefer to call this the half recycled Greenhouse.

Updated and Transformed "deck to Oasis of Serenity"

this is the deck we started with when we moved here 7 years ago..since then I have found out I have lupus and sometimes have a really hard time doing what I get in my head (which used to keep me very busy and usually in mischief )..my husband has built the porch into a sanctuary for me..close enough to the front door that he can hear if I fall & I don't have to trek the north 40 to get there ;) and still private enough to get some me time :) It was constructed primarily of 2x4x8's and he cut and designed(all in his head) what he'd do to undertake this major feat.YEP LADIES!!! HE'S A KEEPER :) <3

When I started a big weeding frenzy around my shed, I lifted up the old pallet wood boardwalk and it fell apart. Rotten to the core. Perfect. Well, that was enough for me. I started snooping around my junk stash eager to fix it up in a jiffy. The Fence (recycling Old Doors and Windows)

I would like to share the fence I made out of old doors and windows. I was unable to find a fence that I really loved plus I didn’t want it to cost me an arm & a leg. I’m not a spring chicken, so I need all my arms and legs! The fence is located at the rear/side of my house. It seemed to take me forever but knowing I only had to do 6 (8 ft) sections, I knew I could totally finish this project. It wasn’t a project that I could put away in a closet and get it out later. Plus, being out for people to see, I realized that it had to be finished in a timely fashion. It was like putting a puzzle together. Very little modification had to be done but there was some. I was extremely lucky at finding old doors. The first door was an original door in my house (sitting in the garage,when we moved in). My neighbor gave me a couple closet doors that he replaced in his house. Garage sales, dumpster diving, the side of the curb and a couple doors were knocked on when I saw a house being updated. Once I had it totally built I realized it needed jazzed up. The first door had to be purple (K-State, of course). But why did I pick the other colors? Not one ended up the original shade. So that means, the other side may not match! When it needs a little tlc, I’ll have to start from scratch and make up another shade. Enjoy! Gail

Pallet Fence

With little to no money i have always tried to make use of what i already have instead of buying new.. all i had to use was a load of pallets for some privacy between mine and my neighbours garden.on one very hot day ,I started running the pallets along the small chain-link fence dividing mine and my neighbours garden using the fence posts that were already there and putting steaks down inside either end of each pallet and into the ground to give a bit more strength. I Nearly died of sunstroke! (id advise not doing this in that kinda weather btw) but the worst of the job is done but not totally finished. I want to run something along the top of the fence to straighten it a bit more and make it a little higher.I have also included a couple of pics of a bench i made weeks earlier (just make-do for now), its surprising how much more uniform/tidier it can make something look when its painted all in the same colour so i painted both the fence and the seating the same.. im going to keep improving on the fence (and bench) so there may be more pics in the future, any ideas would be welcome but for now i am one very knackered 45 yr old single parent with 101 other jobs on the go and am much in need of a rest Please be kind as i am beyond nervous showing this to anyone other than friends and bare in mind this is very low budget but i do love creating something out of nothing whenever possible!. the only thing i spent money on was the paint which was £5 from Wilko's for a 5 litre tub! .Thanks for reading
